Pipette Accuracy and Precision Calibration Worksheet

  1. Accuracy and precision measurements should be determined quarterly for each nominal volume on all pipettes in use.
  2. Record the pipette nominal volume, identification number, date and initials on worksheet below.
  3. The pipette accuracy and precision is determined by weighing deionized water. This is done by placing an empty container on the Mettler balance in the Radiopharmacy. Place the container on the balance and re-zero the balance. Add the nominal volume of water being weighed to the container. Record the container weight plus contents on the worksheet below. Repeat this nine more times (for a total of 10 measurements) and record values.
  4. Enter the worksheet data for each nominal volume setting into the "Pipette QC" Excel spreadsheet to calculate accuracy and precision values.

  5. The % Error (Accuracy) for each nominal volume should be ± 2% of the baseline value. If not, repeat or have pipette serviced.

    The % CV (Precision) for each nominal volume setting should be ± 3% of the baseline value. If not, repeat or have pipette serviced.
