Clinical History
This is a 43-year-old female patient with a previous history of ovarian carcinoma.
Technique
The patient was administered 9 mCi of fluorine 18-FDG and whole body PET images were obtained in coronal, transverse
and sagittal planes.
Findings
1. There is an area of increased uptake in the right pelvis with uptake value of 3.8. This is most consistent with metastatic
disease. There is another area of increased uptake in the left pelvis with an uptake value of 2.6.
2. There is an area of increased activity in the right iliac node with an uptake value of 2.1.
3. There is also an area of increased uptake at the level of the GE junction with an uptake value of 2.3. This is suspicious
for metastatic disease as well.
4. There are numerous areas of increased activity in the para-aortic area most consistent with metastatic disease in the
aortic lymph nodes.
5. There is diffuse uptake in the mediastinum. Although the uptake value is less than 2.5, the metastatic process cannot be
entirely excluded.
Impressions
AREA OF INCREASED ACTIVITY IN THE PELVIS, GE JUNCTION, PARA-AORTIC AREA, AND MEDIASTINUM, MOST
CONSISTENT WITH METASTATIC DISEASE.
