Clinical History

The patient is a 42 year-old male with malignant melanoma, being evaluated for metastatic disease.

Technique

The patient received an intravenous injection of 11.0 millicuries of F18 FDG, and 45 minutes later multiple whole body images were obtained.

Findings

1. There is a focal area of increased uptake in the expected location of the left hilum, which corresponds to the mass seen on the recent chest CT and is suspicious for metastatic disease.
2. In addition, there is an area of increased uptake posterior to the right atrium, which most likely represents pericardial metastasis.
3. No other areas of increased uptake are identified.

Impressions

FINDINGS ARE CONSISTENT WITH LEFT HILAR AND PERICARDIAL METASTASES.
