The CT scan was done 2 days after the PET scan. The report is as follows:
Technique
Multiple contiguous axial images were obtained of the neck after the uneventful bolus administration of Omnipaque-300 contrast material.
Findings
1.The globes and orbits appear unremarkable.
2.There are mucous retention cysts or polyps in both maxillary sinuses, otherwise, the sinuses appear clear.
3.The parotid and submandibular glands appear unremarkable.
4.There a 10-15 mm low density area with calcification in the right lobe of the thyroid, which is nonspecific. This may represent a thyroid adenoma or small thyroid carcinoma.
5.The nasopharynx, oropharynx, hypopharynx and larynx all appear unremarkable.
6.There are a few, scattered, subcentimeter nodes within the jugular chains. There are no abnormal lymph nodes identified by morphologic or size criteria.
7.The visualized lung apices appear unremarkable.
8.The visualized osseous structures appear unremarkable.
Impression
1.LOW DENSITY LESION WITH CALCIFICATION IN THE RIGHT LOBE OF THE THYROID, WHICH IS A NONSPECIFIC FINDING AND COULD REPRESENT A THYROID ADENOMA OR SMALL THYROID CARCINOMA.
2.OTHERWISE, UNREMARKABLE CT OF THE NECK WITH NO DEFINITE LYMPHADENOPATHY APPRECIATED.
